for those of you who don’t know by now, the reason why people are boycotting Starbucks is because workers united made a post publicly “declaring solidarity with Palestine” on @sbworkersunited on Twitter. The corporation is suing the union because of that tweet. The boycotts are working, the employees are quitting, people aren’t showing up to Starbucks all over the world. Share prices are low, it’s working. Boycott Starbucks.
Also McDonald’s has been providing free meals to IDF soldiers in !sr3al so f*ck them too.
If game of thrones hasn’t normalized incest by now (pulling over 10 million views in the 7th season alone) then a small fandom ship most certainly won’t
Spn ran for fifteen fucking seasons, it ran for over a decade, and wincest was consistently one of the two or three most popular ships. And it had no measurable impact on real world abuse. Maybe you think fandom is uniquely dangerous (why, idk, but this tumblr after all) but a pretty good rule of fandom is that if Spn couldn’t do it, fucking no one else is going to manage it.
Killing 1300+ Jews in barbaric ways does not make you the good guys. Israel retaliating is Hamas’ fault. Hamas surrendering would mean peace. Israel surrendering would have more dead Jews. But i guess that’s the end goal.
Palestinians, be it on Gaza or the West Bank, can never retaliate or defend themselves. We’re to either die and be violated quietly or we are terrorists which will be gleefully eradicated with the help of every colony-based State in the world. Otherwise, we’ll disturb the comfortable privilege your racism and religious intolerance ensures.
Do people who blindly defend Israel do anything other than victimize yourselves? Do you even read any actual Israeli news that said the IDF “shell[ed] houses on their occupants,” because they’re too incompetent to do anything other than bombing everything? Do you ever wonder why the people Israel swears were burned and beheaded always came from reports from houses absolutely destroyed by what could only be shelling? Do you ever hear testimonies from survivors of the massacre saying IDF shoot at their own civilians? Do you ever read about past al-Qassam attacks and noticed they’ve never had mass casualties because IDF never responded like this? Do you even know what al-Qassam is or do you live to regurgitate whatever you’re fed and being spoon-fed your information?
something i’ve been thinking about lately is like. growing up muslim right after 9/11 is something i’d never really reflected on much because it was all i’d ever known — at 5, my friend’s mum didn’t let her invite me to her birthday party because i was the only brown girl in our class, at 12, my classmates would joke about my family being part of isis, at 16, my dad was interrogated by american airport security for hours — and it always stung and it always hurt but it was just the way things were because the western world hated muslims. but i don’t think i’ve ever fully comprehended the extent to which we were hated until now.
i truly believe that palestine will be free one day. i believe the palestinian people will receive the justice they finally deserve. but what breaks my heart is how much they have suffered and will continue to suffer before they are deemed worthy of help. and it would be to all of our detriment if we ignored how much of a factor palestine being a predominantly muslim state has played into the way the world has reacted to their genocide.
